Basic Function:

Responsible for inspecting, testing, adjusting, repairing, and maintaining electrical equipment and electronic components of equipment, including circuits, wires, relays, motors, breakers, and other devices in generating plants, substations and other associated facilities and areas as required.

Principal Duties:
  • Tests defective equipment to determine cause of malfunction or failure, using voltmeters, ammeters, and related electrical testing equipment.
  • Tests, repairs and replaces equipment, such as relays, switches, PLC’s, supervisory controls and indicating and recording instruments.
  • Tests and repairs equipment circuitry, reading and interpreting wiring diagrams to trace and connect numerous wires carrying current for independent functions.
  • Assemble, install, connects and tests power supply wires and cables to equipment following manuals and schematic diagrams using hand tools and test equipment.
  • May test and maintain transmission equipment, performing basic repairs to circuit breakers and transformers.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other system components and ensures the compatibility of system components.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair and to ensure compliance with codes. Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
  • Prepares schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect changes or alternations made in instruments and systems.
  • Ensures all Safety procedures and Safe Work Practices are followed. Wear PPE as required.
  • Performs special projects and tasks as assigned by Production Plant Manager and Maintenance Supervisor.

Working Conditions:

Works in power plant environment in which there is frequent exposure to noise, heat, dust, or hazardous conditions.

Essential Physical Skills:

Ability to use hands. Ability to lift to 25 pounds. Must be able to climb Ladders and stairs. May be subject to confined spaces.

Job Specifications:
  • Associates Degree with 2+ years’ experience in the installation, operation, testing and maintenance of electrical equipment or a combination of education and experience. Must be certified.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, resolve and repair electrical problems on AC and DC Circuits.
  • Computer skills using Microsoft office, Outlook, and other programs
