Basic Function:

Operates heavy equipment such as a backhoe/loader, or excavator, or other light automotive equipment such as a single-axle flatbed, or crew truck.

Principal Duties:
  • In addition to the safe and efficient operation of equipment, employee frequently participates in maintenance, repair, and minor construction activities within the Water Distribution and Sewer Collection Division.
  • Routine or repetitive assignments are performed under general supervision. Perform minor maintenance, repair, and service assigned equipment.
  • Special assignments are carried out under the close supervision of a supervisor.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by Water and Wastewater Supervisor.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed primarily outdoors in all types of weather. Employee may be subject to noise, dust and other conditions encountered at construction job sites.

Essential Physical Skills:

Ability to lift 50 pounds or more, climb, kneel, reach, use both hands simultaneously.

Job Specifications:

Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions for the operation and maintenance of assigned equipment. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. High school diploma or GED Certificate. Valid CDL(CLASS D) driver’s license. Must have a phone.
