Position Summary
Performs manual work of an unskilled nature in a variety of maintenance, construction, and service activities. This is generally an entry-level position within the Wastewater Treatment, Sewer Collection, Warehouse and Water Distribution Divisions. Seasonal employees may be assigned to any division within CPU.
Reporting Relationships
Division Foreman or assigned crew leader
Essential Functions
- Performs routine, unskilled tasks in areas such as construction, installation of water services, maintenance of sewer and wastewater facilities and ground maintenance, depending on assigned division.
- Work is normally performed under direct supervision, although repetitive duties may be performed under only general supervision.
- Follows safety rules and utilizes personal protective equipment as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by Division Foreman or assigned crew leader.
External Relationships
- Customers: Provides information and assistance when required.
- Civic and government leaders: Cooperates with when required.
- Industry professionals: Confers, cooperates and works with when required.
- Law enforcement: Cooperates with when required.
- General public: Maintains good relations in all contacts with the general public.
Position Ppecifications
Job Knowledge:
Basic knowledge of maintenance, construction, and service activities.
Safety Requirements, Safe work practices and PPE required for jobs.
Use and operation of personal computers, email, and Microsoft office word and excel.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to:
Lift up to 75 pounds, walk, sit, squat, push, pull, kneel, crouch, crawl, stoop, bend, twist and reach. Climb, ascend and descend ladders and stairs, climb poles and make installations and repairs;
Work in an outdoor environment in all weather conditions;
Work with both hands simultaneously to handle, feel or operate tools;
Operate tools and equipment.
The ability to positively interact with customers, employees and management.
Be available and respond to call out anytime and to work overtime or hours outside of regular schedule as required.

Licenses and Certificates:
Possess and maintain a valid Mississippi State issued driver’s license (CDL license).
Must have a phone.
