Electronic Payment Options Help Customers Avoid Mail Delays

Customers have more control and convenience with no added fees

If you use a smartphone or internet-connected computer, then you have everything you need to start reaping the benefits of Clarksdale Public Utilities’ free, reliable and convenient electronic billing programs.

By receiving and paying bills electronically, customers don’t need to buy stamps or worry about mail delays—an issue that gained attention last year when the U.S. Postal Service revised its service standards for first-class mail, resulting in a longer delivery window for certain items.

“CPU’s electronic billing options have excellent track records in terms of accuracy, security and customer satisfaction,” said Curtis D. Boschert, CPU general manager. “They also provide peace of mind by ensuring that customers’ bills are received and paid on time and their accounts are in good standing.”

These are a few ways customers can do business with CPU from the comfort of their homes and smart devices:

  • Online portal: If you like saving green—whether that means money, trees or both—then CPU’s paperless billing program may be perfect for you. By receiving monthly bills by email, customers can pay balances quickly and conveniently on CPU’s secure portal.
  • Mobile app: Pay online with our mobile app, which provides 24/7 secure access to customers’ utility accounts. Bill payments post immediately, and customers who have multiple accounts can view them all at once and selectively make payments.
  • Monthly draft: This is another convenient, mail-free option that’s perfect for customers who are comfortable having utility payments automatically debited from their bank accounts. CPU accepts ACH bank drafts and credit card drafts.

Customers who prefer to pay bills in person may visit CPU’s office at 416 Third Street. Lobby and drive-through hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. A payment kiosk on the outer wall of the drive through is available for cash, debit and credit card payments.

For after-hours check and money order payments, a drop box is located next to CPU’s drive-through window. Payments placed in the drop box after 8 a.m. are processed the next business day.

“An important part of our Bright Future initiative is making it as easy and convenient as possible to do business with CPU,” Boschert said. “No matter how customers choose to manage their accounts, we want to ensure they have a positive experience whenever they interact with us.”
