As part of its Public Power Week observance Oct. 6–12, Clarksdale Public Utilities is highlighting its commitment to Truth in Service as a community-focused utility provider dedicated to integrity and excellence in every customer interaction.
“Over my tenure with CPU, I’ve seen first-hand the dedication and care our employees bring to their jobs every day to serve customers,” said Curtis D. Boschert, CPU general manager. “Whether they’re assisting customers in our downtown office or restoring service after a storm, they live the value of Truth in Service by making sure customers know they can count on CPU.”
Along with Public Power Week’s focus on the benefits of local control, Truth in Service goes a step beyond by reinforcing the importance of customer relationships in building trust and maximizing the value of CPU’s utility services.
Truth in Service means providing the best electric and water service possible to help the community thrive and ensuring customers have 24/7 access to safe, reliable and affordable utilities.
For CPU, Truth in Service also means listening to customers and being attentive and responsive to their individual needs—from resolving service issues to answering billing questions to helping them save money on heating and cooling bills.
“There’s no substitute for personalized service that prioritizes our customers’ needs first,” Boschert said. “Our employees understand how vital our services are to the community, and they also happen to be CPU customers. They’re always looking for ways to improve customer relationships and enhance our service offerings.”
Focusing on the future is another key element of Truth in Service. While we take pride in our 125-year legacy of service, it’s what CPU is doing now—and preparing for in the years ahead—that matter most to customers.
Keeping our utility systems in top condition and investing in upgrades and new technologies are essential in serving Clarksdale’s utility needs today and well into the future. An important part of our strategy is ensuring that utility rates remain affordable so that CPU can continue fueling community growth and economic development.
Leadership also matters. CPU relies on strong guidance to pilot its decisions and ensure they align with customers’ needs and expectations. The utility’s Truth in Service commitment is upheld by the CPU Board of Commissioners who are appointed to five-year terms by Clarksdale’s Board of Mayor and Commissioners.
“Truth in Service defines who we are and how we do business at CPU,” Boschert said. “It starts with always being there when our customers need us, and it also means recognizing when we fall short and working every day to continuously improve. CPU is part of Clarksdale’s past and its future, and we exist to serve our community with integrity and excellence.”
